Sonnets of Spring

Songs drifting in the hot, humid air

Stealing amidst the walls of the night

Sealing every crevice with despair

While fragments of hope scattered its light

Like sonnets of spring in November

Playing unceasingly in my mind

Unfading in the breath of winter

Drowning days of solitude I find

Though I long to escape its embrace

I yearn for its warmth even in dreams

Where I linger long after the blaze

As the snow melts into mountain streams

Windsong

She scanned the heavens with a sigh

As stars twinkled in defiance

Lifting her pale arms to the sky

While leaves twirled in a mystic dance

The soulful windsong played faintly

An almost forgotten lament

Drifting in the night breeze softly

Alone.  Unheard.  Unending.  Bent.

The air went still for a second

Bowed by grief at the end of dreams

In the darkness echoes beckoned

As evening succumbed to its whims

The melody picked up anew

Uncertain.  Halting.  Uneven.

While the crescent faded from view

Frozen.  Aflame.  Reborn.  Broken.

Shadows at Your Feet

Bathed in radiant moonlight you stand

Wrapped in shadows, eyes unreadable

As the swirling smoke curled ‘round your hand

Like a dream that never really ends

Fighting my own demons I just stared

As words left unsaid hung in the air

I watched on, afraid to be ensnared

As it lingers on a day so fair

And though I know not where my path lies

‘Tis enough that we once chased away

The shadows at your feet, drowned the cries

Haunting my sleep, stalking your day

Now I can walk away with a smile

Bring with me the rain and unshed tears

Fade with the waning moon in a while

Forgotten with the passing of years

Veiled Haven

The red moon dawned upon the groves

Lifting the mist that shrouded the mountains

In its wake sailed a trail of chanted odes

In the rhythmic splattering of the rain

Where evening came like the softest whisper

Of a cool breeze singing its lullaby

The dreamworld beckoned to those in slumber

Like a veiled haven till sunrise draws nigh

Enchanting time to fall deep in its spell

For the music continues to linger

Each soul with its own story to tell

Like fallen leaves drifting on the river

Crossroads

The setting sun painted the skies soft pink

Charcoal mist-like shadows cloaked the mountains

While evening crept, daytime stood on the brink

With the breeze sailed the smell of coming rain

Only the pale crescent moon graced the night

As the red star kept its steady vigil

The abandoned crossroads came within sight

Biding its time beyond the darkened hills

Towering pine trees obscured the black skies

Yet their haunting songs wafted in my mind

As midnight glowed with a thousand fireflies

Beckoning, calling as I yearned to find

A fate woven to all the choices made

And though I shall weep alone in the night

The tears shall dry and in the morning fade

To search anew for that elusive light

With hands bound by the very chains I’ve wrought

The hidden trail to the path I’ve chosen

An existence upon myself I’ve brought

To seek its heaven or join the fallen

Vampire Queen

She stood proud looking down at the world

Brandishing her tears like a weapon

Forged by the gods in their mold of gold

In vengeance she lashed without reason

She bared her fangs and hissed angrily

Like a vampire queen she stalked the night

Her minions unleashed secretly

To the innocents scattered in flight

Accept not the gifts she freely gives

For they are like chains binding the hands

A brand staining as long as one lives

Cowering in shame across the land

She gloated, sucking her victims dry

Cursed those that dared oppose her desires

Her strength spent, she takes a breath and sighs

Gathering, saving her lethal fire

For the unknown enemy behind

The slaughter of her soulless allies

Her masked foes leaving her in a bind

Till she cries, haunted by her own lies

Ensnared

Fleeting moments shrouded by the mist

As numbness paralyzes my soul

Like a shackle fitted to my wrist

With its unseen chains tied to the pole

Ensnared.  Caught.  Trapped with nowhere to run

I closed my eyes as the tension mounts

Higher.  Reaching for the burning sun

Drifting in the clouds, the hours I count

When all I have are but images

Flashing in the darkness of the room

Untouched as the dream itself changes

Under the light of the crescent moon

Fragments of Yesterday

Soft rain mingles with silent tears
As the thunder muffle the cries
Till the sun drives away the fears
And the moonlight reveal the lies
Old songs and half-forgotten memories
Whispered words traveling to the skies
Wafting scents that conjure scenes of bliss
Of fiery sunsets and pale sunrises
I yearn for the fragments of yesterday
To hold them in my hand for a moment
And relive the dream that drifted away
Now remembered in solitude's lament

Beyond the Mists

Lilting strains drifted on faerie wings

He stood enthralled as the maiden sings

In the twilight of the land she played

Her heartfelt music with the wind raced

Drifting like soft whispers in a dream

Flickering like some faraway gleam

The golden jewel of summer days

Painted amidst heaven's crossways

A fleeting moment's bliss in silence

On the fields where silver willows danced

In the brilliance of the day she glowed

Sparkling like crystalline streams that flowed

A carpet of luminescent leaves

'Neath the argent stars of one spring eve

In the dusck where wishes burn brightest

And whispered thoughts shall fly ever west

A smoky twilight gathered closer

As the path of dreams drifted farther

When all shall grieve the waning of stars

A haven forever marred by wars

The fire of the Trees shall burn no more

Gone save in the heart of ancient lore

Of stellar skies and clandestine lights

Scattered fragments of bleak autumn nights

If the darkened clouds shall ever shed its tears

Soft like silken rain to calm the fears

The thick veil of mists and seas shall rise

Winter ends with the kiss of sunrise
